Бывают и обратные ситуации, когда авторы почти полностью отказываются от духа оригинала. Например, телевизионная адаптация Halo вызвала споры из-за того, что, по мнению многих зрителей, сериал утратил атмосферу игры.
Тем временем сама игровая франшиза продолжает развиваться. BioWare работает над новой частью Mass Effect, хотя команда пережила сложный период: в начале 2025 года компанию затронула волна сокращений.
